The rear hi vis green are ok but the front red is no better than the old iron sight. Was wondering if possible to take out the red fiber optic rod and replace with a green hi vis rod piece.

If the bore shows reamer marks across the rifling that may be the problem. If it's smooth then it's something else wrong, like the lube. As mentioned, check the patches for being cut.The lock on the Pedersoli Besses are the style used on pattern 1756 and 1769 Besses with the wrong markings. It shows only one screw hole behind the flintcock because it has a long sear spring. Later Bess locks showed 2 screws because they shortened the sear spring and they added a hole to the top jaw screw.They shoot most accuretly if the clearance is .003 or less. That's a pretty snug fit and can be pretty hard to load in a fouled bore.
